Like most actors, Leonard aims to please. But his patience is running thin. There’s only so many commutes to so many auditions before, desperate and helpless, Leonard will need to take matters into his own hands and prove that he’s the perfect fit for a role.

Director’s Vision for ‘Shoot Your Shot’

Over the past few years, we were feeling particularly overwhelmed by LA, Hollywood and the industry as a whole. The utter lack of control we had over our own future was disconcerting. So we did what we always do, and converted these feelings into a script. We felt a perfect microcosm for this sense of powerlessness would be in the incessant struggle of the actor in the audition room. We conceptualized a character, Leonard, who has visions of grandeur and doesn’t just want work or to even eat: he wants to live out his dream.

But it’s not up to him or even his talent level (which is beside the point in this film), and instead decided by a handful of people. It’s this lack of control and the weight of the city around him that ultimately proves too much to handle and he is forced to shoot his shot.
