Director’s Vision

Our team went into this film wanting to play with the structure of television and more specifically, episode trailers; we wanted to explore how stories are told through marketing. When casting the project, we wanted to bring on an actual family so that we could preserve those organic relationships. Concerning the themes of the film, we wanted to portray the dangers of hiding who you really are, how suppression can affect someone as well as the people around them. It was important to us that the characters in the film recognized the consequences of their emotional absence in Gretel’s life without romanticizing the tragedy.
