Welcome to our best Picks of the Month. This new segment on Film Shortage will replace our previous favorite yearly picks by genre (Animation, Drama, Sci-Fi …). As much fun as our favorites were to curate, it became quite difficult to select only a few picks per genre over a year. Instead, we decided to revise our picks by month, and select the films that resonated the most with our audience.

These Picks only include our Daily Short Picks, even though all our Featured shorts deserve a watch. Don’t forget to check out this month’s features: Pizza Time, Headcleaner, Skywatch, Who Among Us!, Amazonia, Seven, The Craft and Evie. There is also a Jude Law cameo appearance in one of them!

January was a particularly busy month, especially with the Oscar Short Film Nominations (all pick-worthy). But they have their spotlight moment, let’s focus on our Daily Picks.  As usual we get a great variety of shorts, but it’s the fiery personality of artist Kitt Bennett combined with Ben Dean’s dynamic film making style that stood out this month.  We always brace ourselves when we receive work from The Panics (previously Post Panic, Sundays, Lost Boy). This time, their senior motion designer Kim Taylor created the opening title sequence to their Creative evening event: Panic Room. The breathtaking design is captivating to say the least. And finally, we were rocked by the tandem duo of Jared Gilman and Eli Bridges in The Reservoir.
