New York City 1981: After a grave mistake, Robert seeks refuge in an auto repair shop and awaits his mother, Belle; the Boss of the crime family. When Belle confronts Robert, she learns that her son was having an affair with a member of the Jewish mob family. Caving to Belle’s pressure, Robert tells her the body is in the car trunk. Belle opens the trunk to learn that the deceased body is that of a man. A brief moment of acceptance, then everything goes wrong.

Director’s Vision for ‘Tony’s Auto Repair Shop’

We set out to make a film that subverted the norms that accompany mafia films. Sculpting a story about acceptance, a mother’s love for her son, and the grim reality of what it’s like for a 1980s mob family in New York City.

With subtle tonal shifts, we walk a tightrope between drama and comedy.
