The Secret of Spring is a poetic short film on the uplifting and unknown feeling of staring deeply at someone’s eyes for the first time. It explores the themes of youth and courage as well as an innocent look on love and modern romance.
Director’s Statement
The Secret of Spring was born out of a desire to explore the nature of how everything can change in an instant.
It had been four years since I began crafting short-form content for clients as the head of a commercial production studio, all the while waiting for the right project to bring me back into the fold of short films. I would come up with ideas for what I referred to as “my next creative project,” one that would lift an audience into a realm of surreal fantasy.
This wealth of ideas led to collaboration sessions with fellow artist and friend Keenan Jolliff, in which we developed countless worlds and drafts for projects. It was in one of those exercises that this short piece was born. I left it in the back drawer and we continued working, yet I always found myself pulled back towards the piece: the theme of youth and exploration; the dream-like nature of the narrative, and the macro/micro perspective of love as a universal emotion. We decided to put the project in motion with a great team of collaborators. The Secret of Spring was born out of a desire to explore the nature of how everything can change in an instant. We pulled from many places and past collaborators to create this highly curated world. The piece is short, sweet, and close to our hearts. I invite you to take this journey through youth and love with me and the team, I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
