Sinking is a film that my best friend (also starring in the piece) and I have been collaborating on to visualize our combined experience dealing with body dysmorphia. I am fortunate to be surrounded by supportive artists that allowed us to achieve a film that attempts to broaden public empathy and awareness of body image disorders. You may not feel like you deserve to complain about your body; you may not believe you have an issue; you may not have ever thought about this subject. Body image effects every single person. We want to create discussions among friends and communities that allow people to work through cultural stigma and projection. Through my research in this film, I have learned so much about how other people relate and differ with their body image. You’d be amazed how many and WHO are effected by this phenomenon. We need to learn more about each other and ourselves. We need to talk. There is strength in numbers.
