Director’s Vision for ‘Flappy’

I have always found these inflatable mascots inherently absurd, especially in the way car yards advertise with them. My main goal with ‘Flappy’ was to lean into this absurdity and explore the different ways we could push the everyday weirdness of these things and create something malevolent. I wrote this script as a creepy cautionary tale with a wry sense of humour, trying to find that fine line on the page. Once we started working with the mascot on set, I knew we had an exciting opportunity to imbue it with personality and explore the ways it could torment our protagonist.
