In an atmosphere grown suddenly impossible to breathe, a diver and a woman appear to be the only survivors. As their reserves of air run out, will they make love or war?

Just as we think we’ve seen all the possible post-apocalypse storylines we can think of, here’s comes an incredibly original piece of brilliance from French-Canadian filmmaker Annick Blanc. La Couleur de tes Lèvres (The Color of Your Lips) stems from the Montreal production company Midi La Nuit who has created cutting edge films and several Oscar Nominations with Fauve and Brotherhood. Watch both films on Film Shortage.

La Couleur de tes Lèvres surprises us with its natural and simplistic story progression. Without the use of any dialogue, we get fully immersed into the character’s incredible luck, but also quickly realize the damning ending they are in. While some of the concept can label the film as a science fiction film, this may be one of the least fictional sci-fi film’s we’ve seen.

Annick Blanc is a filmmaker who is fascinated by innovative stories and the power of the image. She has produced numerous shorts, Including ‘Au milieu de nulle part‘ (2010) and ‘Turn off Before Living‘ (2014).
