A short film about a boy who discovers a glitch which enables him to exchange cotton balls for cookies.
Director’s Vision for ‘Opulent Round Edible Object’
As a commercial filmmaker, I wanted to make a film that was simple to create, while also involving my family in the process. This was filmed over a couple of months with 15 total days of production, mostly by myself at my in-laws house. I wrote a rough idea that started with a cotton ball. The process informed the narrative, which was something I could never have planned in advance. Oftentimes, I would just start filming, without a definitive place to go, making it up as I went along; building the narrative on the fly and pulling from what was on hand. The sloth costumes were remnants of a previous commercial project. This was a very freeing process, for rarely do we get in the car and just drive for the sake of driving. The creative on a production is usually nailed weeks in advance, with many units working together. But not this project. It was pure freedom. It felt like surfing, with OREOS.
