In a shady motel room, a lonely French photographer is writing letters, recounting his journey through the heat and dust of Arizona.

Director’s Vision

From travel letters to motion pictures

In November 2019, I flew from my French rainy town to the dusty heat of Tucson, Arizona, in the heart of the Day of the dead celebrations. Oscillating between amazement and homesickness, I tried to best capture what a lonely traveler, could feel, in the letters I sent to my beloved relatives.
I wanted to bring my travel experience up to a poetic story. Through my own candid and genuine writing, I’m not trying to expose landscapes and facts to the audience. What I want to convey is the feel of dusty heat and harsh sunlight, the sense of lostness through my pointless photograph chase and the silly self questions I had in my mind.
So, here are the letters, collected in a short film.
