A catholic nun decides to break her vows and go back to find the man she fell in love with, 20 years ago.
Can you tell us what inspired you to bring this story to life?
The story itself, being a true story, was the inspiration. It sounds so archaic that in modern society, there’s jobs and functions that force people to choose between faith and love.
My Producer Sara Seligman had worked with Beth Grant in the past, and – once we had a chance to discuss this story with her – she was so in love with the premise. Beth is a wonderful person – talented, kind and passionate. She is also a woman of faith, which helped her connect with our character’s journey so deeply.
I connected with Marcelo through some Argentinian friends, and – not only he loved the story – but he also knew Beth well. Their loving connection on screen was palpable.
What do you hope people will take away from the story?
It’s preposterous that in 2021 there’s people who are forced to choose between love and faith. That should change. Now.
