A fledgling salesman meets a dubious character who claims to be peddling dreams out of a school bus.
Dream Bus tests the rationality of the things we pursue in a world that is absurd, often surreal, and almost always unfair.
The film is my first jump from writing into filmmaking. I came up with the premise after seeing a very real bus parked outside my apartment in Philadelphia with the word “Dreams” painted on the side.
I’ve always loved magical realism and I wanted to make a film that pokes fun at our neverending and frequently silly quest for meaning and happiness. Dream Bus sticks the prosaic, rational Larry into a fantastical world he doesn’t recognize, where his seemingly logical choices and motivations suddenly appear farcical.
But when he finally accepts the miraculous, it only opens up more questions. What’s any Larry to do?
