A harmonious couple discovers one another’s greatest flaws on the eve of their wedding and the revelations jeopardize their marriage – before it even begins.

Director’s Vision

American Bison tells the story of a couple in love, “tying the knot.” But more than that, it explores the idiosyncratic expression of that love, which the very act of marrying tends to stifle. There’s a certain pomp and circumstance to wedding rituals which does not align with the very messy, strange and complicated realities of the relationships that I’ve been a part of. In my experience, the bravest thing partners can do is not simply vow their love but scream it from the mountaintop. This film is about a couple working up the courage to do just that. To fight for – rather than against – one another. Like the animals we truly are.
