Director’s Statement

“Above and Below the Waves” is a short film about overcoming loss and loneliness wrapped in a Sci-Fi-esque story that serves as a metaphor for this. Inspired by works like “La Jetée” and “Stranger Than Paradise”, I wanted to create a cinematic and dreamy atmosphere that would allow the two stories that happen at the same time to flow and develop with a simple but strong narrative; Therefore the choice of locations, anamorphic vintage lenses, black and white and so on. This piece comes as the second part of a short film trilogy that started with “g.” (2010, Vimeo Staff Pick).
