Jim St. Germain has surmounted enormous odds. He was born into poverty before immigrating from Haiti to Crown Heights in Brooklyn. Once in the states, Jim began to get into trouble with the law and almost died from violence in his neighborhood. Jim eventually turned everything around and now can be described as an entrepreneur, author, activist, and a father. This documentary guides us through Jim’s life but through the lens of him speaking to his 4 year old son Caleb.
Director’s Statement
I was honored to be trusted with telling Jim’s story. It was a daunting task to try and boil down such an important story into only 7 minutes. I hope that watching this film leaves the viewer with wanting to read Jim’s book and feeling inspired to do more when it comes to activism work.
