Who will save this 10 year old boy from execution?
‘The Art of Human Salvage’ is a steam-punk science fiction short film that takes places in the nearby future, and where ‘The Corporation’ has replaced the government. Free expression is a serious crime, enforced by brutal secret police called Slingers, those that create photography in the shadows risk execution, which can only be saved by a Salvation Officer.
When I read the feature film script written by Ted Dewberry, I was blown away. I knew I wanted to make this movie, and needed to start with a short to introduce this dystopian world to my audience

The film stars Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Battlestar Galactica), Jamie Walters (Beverly Hills, 90210, The Heights), and Matthew Boylan (Straight Outta Compton, 24, Species II). The short film is designed to be a teaser for speculation on the making of the complete film.
Dempsey Tilman also worked on such projects as The Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Avengers: Age of Ultron, SpiderMan, SpiderMan 2 and the new film Straight Outta Compton.
After reading the feature screenplay I had all these ideas zooming around in my head. But I knew that to make a good short film I had to focus these wonderful images into something that could work for a short film. Something that could grasp and hold an audience for 10 minutes and also be something that people would say „wow, I want to see more“. Coming up with something like that took a little time but working with Ted, the writer, we were able to hammer it out on paper within a few weeks.
