Lydia (JoAnn Nordstrom), a widowed mother, obsessively wants her child to join the church as a choirboy. Unfortunately, her son is severely ill and unable to attend choir rehearsals. Lydia takes matters into her own hands as she trains him herself in preparation for a performance at the annual Annunciation. While the boy’s condition worsens, Lydia becomes unrecognizable and more frightening as she attempts to prepare the boy for the forthcoming day. Stella Maris is a film that explores a woman’s damaged psyche as she struggles to accept that the life she once wished for is slowly falling apart.
