As Pay Phone’s become more and more scarce in Japan, a young woman’s favorite Pay Phone goes missing in Tokyo.

Director’s Vision

Inspired by quiet streets, glowing vending machines, and well-lit public phones around Tokyo, Kenny Wu (DP) and I developed Pay Phone 702. In addition to these visual cues, we wanted the film to be an exploration of missed opportunity and redemption. Shot only a few months before the pandemic changed our definition of risk, I hope Pay Phone 702 serves as a reminder to continue taking risks and exploring the unknown.
