Out of Reach, a poem written and narrated by Resita Cox, takes viewers on a timeless journey through childhood memories. Listening to her words paired with the visuals created by Local Legend Films on the south and west sides of Chicago, we feel her sense of urgency. Cox’s poem beautifully describes how painful it is to confront the issues of segregation, poverty and other systems of oppression that exist today for children of color in Chicago and all across the US, just as they did for her growing up in North Carolina.
