Director’s Vision for ‘Jack’

JACK is the result of a challenge I made with myself, wanting to see if I could make an entire horror scenario in a long, unbroken, tension-filled take. After I graduated college, I used to make horror short films during the month of Halloween every year to write, shoot, and edit on the fly. There weren’t any rules, only they had to take place on Halloween night, as well as released on Halloween day. That process helped me to sink my teeth into indie filmmaking, and I returned to that concept with JACK, which came after a very long 2-year process of my last short film, MK ULTRA VIOLENCE, which was extremely complicated. As a huge fan of John Carpenter and Brian DePalma, it was fun to immerse myself in the long, drawn-out tension (without cutting) and play with lighting and music cues to create a thriller.
