Jackson Wang has unveiled the first visual from his highly anticipated album, MAGIC MAN 2, with the release of the cinematic music video for “High Alone.” As the sequel to his 2022 chart-topping album MAGIC MAN, this new project dives even deeper into his artistic evolution and personal journey.

Director’s Vision for ‘High Alone’

I’ve always been fascinated by duality, shaped by my experience as a Japanese descendant growing up in Brazil. I’ve often felt like two different people—the way others perceived me versus who I truly was inside. It’s the idea of being put in a box, how people watch and perceive you, or even how you can be an entertainment to people sometimes, but no one really knows observing from outside of that box how you really feel. This theme naturally drew me to Jackson’s story and his past character, The Magic Man. In this video, I wanted to ground that character in reality—transforming him into an escape artist whose suffering becomes the true spectacle. The audience watches, captivated, only to leave him alone when the show ends, as if his pain were just another form of entertainment.

Visually, I mirrored the idea of duality and entrapment by exploring reflections and the color red as a hidden story. Inspired by films like Black Swan and David Lynch’s work, I wanted the imagery to feel surreal yet emotionally raw, as if reality itself was shifting. Working with an incredible team—including my longtime friends and talented artists across South Korea and beyond—made this project even more special, a true full-circle moment where years of collaboration and passion came together to bring this vision to life.
