A young woman grapples with the untimely death of her sister, seeking solace in an imagined reality where they grew up together.

Director’s Vision for ‘Healer’

HEALER is my personal examination of the nuances of self-discovery, family bonds, and the complexities of coming of age as a young woman. Through a blend of scripted narrative and dream-like imagery inspired by Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) and Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides (1999), I wanted to offer an intimate glimpse into the journey towards understanding the complexities of female power, gender dynamics, and the impact of loss during formative years. I explore the concept of healing as not only a process of recovery, but an ongoing practice of self-reflection and personal growth.

As a woman in the film industry, I am dedicated to bringing a distinctive and feminine lens to my craft in order to illuminate the multidimensionality of women and their lived experiences.

HEALER is my directorial debut, and my attempt to metaphorically heal not only my own wounds, but also those of my family. I aspired to craft a film that would not only resonate with audiences, but also inspire introspection on the place of women in today’s world, the societal expectations placed on them, and the power of one’s inner strength and solidarity. HEALER aims to encourage reflection on the importance of supporting each other as women, and the role that plays in achieving personal and collective empowerment.
