I have found that social media users and career influencers develop a unique closeness with their audience – they are always an arms reach away. They lull us to sleep, and they wake us up in the morning with a smile. And some receive a lot for it in return – fame, money, notoriety. In a quest for these perks, there are countless stories of influencers and aspiring influencers going to extremes for visibility, including violence. That image was the inspiration of this film – someone committing a heinous act with a smile on their face to appeal to an audience that demanded a spectacle.
