A poignant short exploring love, life, and loss through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl, and the adventures she goes on with her father.
Director’s Vision for ‘Forever’
A love letter to my family, Forever was initially written as a response to dealing with my Nana battling (and surviving) cancer when I was a teenager, alongside nostalgic moments of a childhood growing up in New Zealand. The 6-minute short also stars real-life father/daughter duo Jaxin Hall and Ruby Dawn Hall, and was self-financed by us as a creative team. Many favours and friends were also called in to help out.
Unfortunately, the week after we finished production on Forever, I had a family member diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. This made editing the film a rather emotional and difficult process; enhanced by the fact that other key members of the creative team also had friends and family get diagnosed throughout post-production. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into finishing this film – and we collectively hope that the final short resonates emotionally with audiences around the globe!
