A lonely old man’s attempt to hang himself with a yarn noose goes awry, accidentally ripping a hole in the ceiling and leading him to form an unexpected friendship with a young boy in the apartment above.

Director’s Vision

I went into the project knowing I wanted a story about two lonely people that come together by chance and end up saving each other. I originally wanted it to be a claymation film but after coming to the unfortunate realization that I don’t have talent as a sculptor, I decided to shoot the film live action while building the world of the film entirely out of cardboard. Ultimately, the juxtaposition of the actors to the flat bland world of cardboard helped reflect how disconnected the main character felt from the world around him (and also because it was the cheapest material available).
