Director Statement

When making this short film, I had 3 goals…1) Inspired by the fantasy films (Edward Scissorhands, It’s A Wonderful Life) that captured my imagination at an early age, I set out to create an intimate, human story of struggle set in a parallel universe. I wanted to build a world with a touch of magic while staying grounded in a somewhat realistic setting. 2) Growing up with parents who were frequently gone, it was up to me and my sisters to fend for ourselves so loss of innocence and sacrifice was always the themes I wanted to explore. 3) Lastly, I just wanted to create something that I would have enjoyed watching…good vs. evil, fantastical elements, suspense, twist, happy ending.
