Director’s Vision for ‘Burning Days’

Grant is overwhelmed with nostalgia and meditates on his childhood on the day he reunites with his twin brother in New York City.” and it mirrors my own experience with my sister. I’d moved away when I was twenty-one and didn’t see her consistently anymore, even though we’d grown up incredibly close. Had the same friends, shared the same car, watched the same movies, and so much more. And I really ruminated on the funny idea that even those that are closest to you can become farther and farther away before you can even feel or sense it. It’s that thought that’s incredibly scary to me. How you can start to lose something even before you see the signs coming in. And in this case, my sister and I didn’t really reconnect until the last year or so. We’d see each other throughout the time before then at family gatherings and holidays but there was definitely a wall that had built up. This piece speaks to all of the people that are trying to reconnect to their siblings, and however hard (or easy) that might be. It could be a meeting, or a phone call. But there’s an effort – a certain sort of subtle trying that I wanted to capture in BURNING DAYS which is reflected in the title, and has two meanings. I hope you enjoy it.
