Selene spends the afternoon preparing for her crush to arrive.

Director’s Vision

The motivation for making this film was to explore the physical and metaphysical rollercoaster that we endure while in the state of waiting. One might describe this state as looking or feeling empty (“vuoto”). We pass the time by talking to, indulging in, and overanalyzing ourselves. On the surface, an afternoon of waiting for the object of our affection to arrive is just that — waiting. Yet, for Selene, it is a period of intense emotion, radical reaction, and ultimately, perspective-shifting introspection. And that all of this can occur at the mere thought of someone else, without their presence, is what is captured so beautifully by Selene.
