Anyone can just wager on bingo sites or play any other casino games on their smartphones. The gambling landscape has been significantly transformed since casino operators and other stakeholders embraced the latest technologies.

Rounders (1998) 

Rounders is one of the favorite movies of both pro and amateur poker players. It has an excellent plot and cast. The movie centers on a law student who is struggling with a gambling issue and ended up losing all his money.

With just five days to pay a debt of $15,000, he was determined to right all his wrongs and seeks revenge. 

The Cincinnati Kid (1965) 

This is another amazing gambling movie that highlights the different types of gamblers. Every gambler can identify with at least one character in the movie. Set in New Orleans, it portrays the world of gambling perfectly. 

The Gambler (1974) 

The Gambler is an adaptation of James Toback novel. It depicts the mind of an addict and the highs and lows which is an intrinsic part of the gambling world. Axel Freed, an English professor owed his bookie a whopping sum of $44,000 and he must payback.

He keeps making mistakes as his addiction demons were torturing him. Luckily for him, he won in the end.

Hard Eight (1996) 

Paul Thomas Anderson did a great job directing the movie. Philip Baker Hall played the lead role by starring as Sydney, a professional gambler with an unknown past. He helped his protege, John to hone his gambling skills and later emerged as an expert. 

One good lesson to be learned from the movie is that good character matters a lot. Other A-list actors that featured in the movie include Gwyneth Paltrow, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Samuel L Jackson.

The Sting (1973) 

Without mincing words, this list would be incomplete unless “The Sting” is included. It’s one of the best gambling movies and center on horse racing. It will leave you at the edge of your seat.

Robert Redford starred alongside Paul Newman and made a collaborated to revenge on a greedy conman played by Robert Shaw.

The Hustler (1961) 

The Hustler revolves around handing personal and financial losses. Several gamblers can relate to the different emotions and experiences in the movie. It also shows how failure and success can affect one’s personality.

Paul Newman plays Eddie in The Hustler and it was nominated for nine Academy Awards. 

California Split (1974) 

Elliot Gould and George Segal starred in “California Split.” The movie documents the friendship between Bill Denny and Charlie Waters. As time goes on, Bill became addicted to gambling and got into trouble with some bookies and other players.
