R’ha

A member of an alien race is being tortured and interrogated by a machine.

R’ha is simply a wonderfully detailed 3D animation created as a solo University project by Kaleb Lechowski. The attention to detail and lighting is immaculate and makes it hard to believe it was all done by one man. The characters, especially the main alien protagonist, seems to be something straight out of a major Hollywood film, might I say even better than some films.

I love Sci-Fi, the creativity and freedom as well as the atmosphere.

– Kaleb Lechowski

The essence of captivity and interstellar war is brilliantly captured in the dark settings up the the external world. This all around magnificent film by Kaleb certainly has Sci-Fi fans slurping for more, and luckily for them this is just the tip of the iceberg for what he has in mind.

This project is only a small hint of what I have in mind and the short was first of all designed pull the viewer in and not let him go until the movie is over.

It’s no surprise this film has gathered more than 2 Million views on Vimeo alone with its sheer visual depth and enriched alien world. But like any Science-Fiction film, sound design and visuals come hand in hand and creator Kaleb Lechowski found a perfect sound designer in Harmut Zeller, who brought an entire new depth to the film. The film received so much praise and attention that it attracted former Star Wars producer Rick McCallum, to produce a feature film based on the short R’ha, and to be directed by its creator, Kaleb.

What inspires me and our team is that there are no humans whatsoever in the film, and yet Kaleb has come up with a world that is so engaging and so alive and so real that it really is very different from anything else I have seen in the sci-fi world.

– Rick McCallum

We are highly anticipating this adaptation to the big screen, seeing the quality of this short shows encouraging promise to a feature film!
