The Waiting is an intimate, poetic portrait of a couple navigating the relentless hope, heartbreak, and uncertainty of fertility treatment. Told through the eyes and voice of She, the film follows her and Him as they move through sterile waiting rooms, invasive tests, hallway consultations, and the quiet spaces at home where the weight of unanswered questions hits hardest.
As cycles begin and reset, She endures needles, doctor visits, unsolicited advice, and the silent comparisons to other women on the same journey. Their home fills with baby books, unfinished nurseries, and the ache of what hasn’t arrived. Through it all, Her voice reflects a longing for meaning, a poem about the waiting, the emotional in-between where hope rises and collapses, again and again.
In the film’s final moments, after another round of uncertainty, She finally confronts the question that has defined their lives: how much longer? And in one quiet, trembling breath, the answer arrives.
