Director’s Statement

My lifelong friend Tom, MSgt. Thomas A. Saunders, was on a training mission in 2015 with six other highly-skilled Special Operations Marines when their helicopter crashed into the ocean. At Tom’s funeral, I saw a different side of grief and watched his friends and fellow Raiders celebrate his life. The bond and loyalty these men shared and their celebration of life moved me to my core and inspired me to write THE DETAIL. We worked with active and retired SOF, Marines, veterans and a diverse crew of talented filmmakers, the majority being women. We made this film as a tribute to the brotherhood shared by veterans all over the world.
