On a nearly deserted beach, two men—First, absorbed in his smartphone, and Second, anxious for connection—find themselves locked in an unspoken struggle.

Second becomes obsessed with a distant beach swing and tries various tactics to draw First’s attention away from his phone. Despite Second’s persistent efforts, First remains unresponsive, turning their interaction into an emotional swing filled with laughter, frustration, and mutual provocation. Finally, the only thing that definitely ends up swinging is their mood.

Director’s Vision for ‘Swing’

This is a story about people in those moments when they don’t know what they want from each other, or maybe want too much from each other.

It seems like they can’t live without communication, but they either don’t want to or don’t know how to choose the right words—so they parrot back the same ones. It seems like they listen to each other, but in actuality they don’t want to or don’t know how to hear.

They talk and talk and talk. But their communication doesn’t move forward. It swings. Like an endless swing. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth.

How long have they been swinging? No one even remembers. Why do they keep doing it? No one can say for sure. Perhaps they do what they do because they need each other, and they are scared that their relationship will end the moment the swinging stops.

Swing delves into themes of communication barriers and emotional solitude. Against the backdrop of a peaceful beach, the movie contrasts calm surroundings with the characters’ inner conflicts, offering a poignant reflection on human relationships and the desire for understanding.
