Sidekicks is about a pair of best friends who have miraculously gained superpowers. When one of them gets stranded on his couch, letting his insecurities get the better of him, the other must race to convince him of his worth.

What does Superman do when he doesn’t feel super… If he’s anything like us, he sits on his couch, indulging in junk food, television, and drugs until he drifts into a state of isolation and self-loathing. 

As a lifelong comic book fan, I’ve craved stories that feature these mighty heroes in their most vulnerable and human states. Dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, imposter syndrome, and the crushing weight of their extraordinary capabilities. Blending live action and motion comic animation, this short film acts as a proof of concept to tell a larger story about friendship, mental health, growing up, and realizing your true potential.
