A penniless actor, David, is kicked out of his ex-girlfriend’s house, forced to sublet a stranger’s living room couch. His roommate is Richie Rich Hustla, an eccentric wanna-be gangster and a fellow aspiring actor. When suddenly tasked with assisting Richie’s auditions, David is thrust into a world of escalating confusion and chaos.
Director’s Vision for ‘Richie Rich Hu$tla’
What would happen if you were to put two people from completely different subcultures under one roof and what if they both happened to have the same exact ambition? Would an unlikely friendship bloom or a chaotic feud erupt? We aimed to delve into the power dynamics of
cohabitation between characters who would never cross paths otherwise. While brainstorming ideas for a film that we could make with limited resources and a skeleton crew, we conceived this weird and wacky chamber piece comedy. Drawing inspiration from the unique personalities we’ve encountered in the circus-like city of Los Angeles, we crafted characters that felt so genuine to this
metropolitan bubble but likely unbelievable anywhere else. We made this film with our good friends, shooting it all entirely at our cinematographer, Danny’s home. Truly a labor of love, our intimate crew transformed our meager means into a production of unending laughter. At the end of the day, we wanted to have fun creating something from scratch. Moments of genuine hilarity found their way into the final cut, immortalizing our shared laughter. Making Richie Rich Hustla was truly a good time and watching it is even better!
