On the eve of going to war, a young soldier Matty meets his lover Kim for one last night of passion. As the night unfolds, and their uniforms come off, the truth about how they feel emerges.

Director’s Statement

I based Our Night on my own emotions of being sent to war, as a young man with little prospect I joined the military. You usually see soldiers on screen in war or after they come home, but we rarely see their worries and fears before being sent. I liked the the thought of a young solider who thinks he is strong go on the path of becoming aware of his own mortality and because of this his young liberal girlfriend realising she may have more conservative values. She is torn and has to make a choice based on her feelings for Matty. The Before trilogy was a large influence on this short film.
