A father, lost in a world where his version of masculinity is outdated decides to take his son to a mountain cabin to cure themselves of this modern emasculation. Burdened by a lack of identity and disconnection with his father, the son has to choose between his own beliefs, or to fall in line with his father’s expectations.

Director’s Vision for ‘Like Father Like Son’

Often the portrayal of toxic masculinity is through the lens of the younger generation, whereas with this project I attempted to look at it through the perspective of fatherhood, and how a father can feel lost in how to fulfill this role where his only reference on how to do it right is through his own experience of childhood. The father and the son are both at odds with each other but not only through their personal disconnect but also that of the ever changing social landscape of gender roles and expectations.
