A young woman moves into a cramped apartment with a friend, dragging far too many suitcases and an even heavier emotional load. While her friend heads to work, she’s left alone—searching for stability in a world that feels increasingly unlivable. Between endless apartment listings, rising rents, and calls from concerned parents, she clings to routines and self-care rituals that barely keep her afloat. She dances, she jokes, she tries to stay sane—but nothing sticks. The news blares chaos, her belongings pile up, and her reflection grows unfamiliar. As exhaustion takes over, she looks directly at us—worn out, overwhelmed, and still searching for a place to belong.
Director’s Vision for ‘Lazy Morning’
The music video Lazy Morning stands as proof that creativity knows no borders. At a time when international collaboration is often challenged by restrictions and division, this project brought together a German and UK production company, a Polish DoP, a Belarus-born German director, and both Ukrainian and German crews.
The result is a vibrant, witty piece centered on a universal struggle everyone can relate to: the search for an apartment. For director Veronika Bolotina, who experienced housing crises in both London during her Master’s studies and Berlin’s infamous rental market, the theme was more than relatable—it was personal.
Shot in Berlin, the video highlights not just the absurdity of flat-hunting, but also the diverse realities behind it, with a female POC protagonist at its center.
“I’m drawn to stories that show our similarities rather than our divisions,” says Veronika. “Flat-hunting is a small battle, but one that so many people fight every day.”
The video was released on August 1st and showcases the music of an indie-pop band heavily inspired by British indie rock and pop.
Like Gorillaz and Daft Punk, they prefer to stay out of the spotlight, treating music videos as narrative-driven artworks rather than performance showcases. It’s a bold choice in an industry that often demands visibility, but one that perfectly complements Lazy Morning’s cinematic storytelling.
