During a fashion shoot, pro model/amateur photographer Knives, becomes embroiled in the imploding relationship of Max, a self-absorbed influencer, and his girlfriend Lily, a controlling fine art photographer. As tensions rise between the couple, Knives documents their crumbling dynamic. But, what begins as a glamor descends into an examination of how we all define ourselves.
Director’s Vision for ‘Kamikaze’
For me “kamikaze” is a representation of a universal question. “How much of myself am I willing to give, to make it?” We love success stories, but forget about what got lost along the way to success. “kamikaze” should resonate with anyone who’s felt the pangs of compromise or the dissolution of self, so they could pay their rent. This is an allegory for capitalism via social media, drenched in the seductive power of images and beauty. It’s truly about succeeding in a system that guarantees failure in every victory.
