Sophie’s finally achieving her dreams… so she should be happy – right? “Happy For You” explores the danger of idealizing our mentors. Sophie’s desire to impress Nora pushed her to accomplish a huge milestone in her career, but she struggles with finding joy in her success without Nora’s validation. “Happy For You” asks whether learning to be happy for ourselves is something we must learn through rejection. I hope that this film inspires its audience to reflect on the people who have both inspired and disappointed them in their own journeys.
