Director’s Vision for ‘FEED’

I wrote FEED in the Spring of 2020, just a few weeks into the pandemic lockdown and a few months after giving birth to my son. Amidst the joy of parenthood, the state of the world definitely intensified my feelings of isolation, exhaustion, and anxiety. I figured, what better way to cope than to write about characters who unravel completely?

FEED explores the complexities of motherhood, gender roles, women’s labor, the absurdity of the baby advice industry, and the emotional toll parenting can take on romantic and platonic relationships. It’s both wildly outlandish (we’re talking flesh-eating alien babies, here) and disturbingly relevant considering what women face in today’s political climate.

To bring this vision to life, I prioritized female collaborators in key above-the-line roles, making this project a true expression of women’s voices and experiences.
