Director’s Vision for ‘C’est La Vie’

C’est La Vie was my Thesis project for the MFA program at UT Austin. I made this film because the deeper I got into the graduate program, the more I found myself reminiscing about my days as a server in NYC. I started missing all the people I had the pleasure of working with and the chaos of a Friday evening shift that we were all a part of. Though I couldn’t wait to leave the restaurant world behind back then, I suddenly wanted to throw myself back into it. C’est La Vie is a love letter to the people and the experiences that only a restaurant could serve up, with a couple of winks to the French New Wave.
