Chelsea is a difficult child with a wild imagination. One day, she receives an ominous message from her bowl of cereal. Four letters: K.I.L.L.

Director’s Vision for ‘Cereal’

Cereal is a love letter to kids horror films and TV shows of the 80s and 90s. Something like Goosebumps meets Child’s Play where the horror is juxtaposed by the kitschy retro aesthetic.

What if a child wanted Cereal so bad that it drive them to murder? It’s pretty ridiculous but it inspired me to start etching out a world and backstory where we could pepper clues as to why she might do this (beyond just the cereal). I hate when films give you all the answers (especially in horror) and wanted to create a moody campy short that felt like there was more brewing beneath the surface while never fully letting you in on the whole story outside the frame. I feel like my favourite shorts keep it simple and contained and effectively build to a punchline (whether its a joke, dramatic moment or a scare).
