On their way up to Bishop Falls to celebrate their anniversary, a young couple gets stranded on the road. Suddenly the weekend turns into a nightmare, as their attempts to flee from a terrifying apparition goes haywire.
Director’s Vision for ‘Beckoned’
After developing the script with my writing partner and wife, Callie, my goal as a director was to
explore the fragility of romantic relationships when faced with the unknown. The story begins as a celebration of love, their second anniversary, but quickly descends into terror and fear, mirroring the unpredictability of life itself. By placing an ordinary couple against an extraordinary and terrifying force, an apparition, I wanted to examine how love, trust, and survival instincts are tested under pressure.Meanwhile, the location for the story referred to as Bishop Falls and its’ desolate roads and isolation act as a character, heightening tension and exposing characters’ emotions. Beckoned delves into the intersection of the supernatural and the psychological, challenging our perception of reality and the boundaries of human endurance. Not knowing what Hayley (Ciara Hanna) is being driven to do, our female lead tests their relationship where they emerge together and discover what she was being beckoned for it is revelatory.
