‘Arrival’ is a classically animated film which combines stunning visuals with a personal coming out story. The premise of the film pulls from the Director and Animator Alex Myung’s past relationships as a gay man in New York City. The characters in the film, while faced with a problem that is centric to those of the LGBT community, are also completely relatable to those who question any part of their identity and are afraid to confront it. There are very few LGBTQ themed animated films productions which have chosen to seriously depict queer culture and the difficulties one faces when contemplating ‘coming out.’ We hope to fill that space.
