Director’s Vision for ‘And Now I Lay Me Down’
This film came to me in a vision. After losing part of my nose to skin cancer, I found myself confronting the terror of aging and erasure in an industry obsessed with youth and perfection. Celia Dalvi emerged as a woman clinging to bravado and entitlement, believing control and appearances could protect her from loss. The film asks how we learn to be happy when life is filled with sorrow — and whether fulfillment comes not from resurrecting a career, but from reconnecting with ourselves. Sometimes, smelling the flowers isn’t enough. You have to eat them.
