In the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, LA-based ceramicist Jessie DuBois spends cherished moments with her grandmother, Marcia. Their deep bond is evident as they engage in a heartfelt conversation about life, death, art, and the family legacy of pottery—a tradition Marcia began with her husband Bruce in the 1960s. As a meaningful way of honoring this heritage, Jessie forages for clay amongst the ruins of her grandparents’ home, which was tragically destroyed by a wildfire. Through her art, Jessie keeps the essence of her family and the spirit of her grandparents’ home alive.
